Should have asked me...

Don't know why she didn't ask me how to spell it. Clearly it's spelled Beynis. Just like Fred Beynis, the famous Hispanic accordion playing rock soloist! How does she not know this?
EG

As you may remember, Richie started naming some of his toys. Just a few, but the names he has picked are very imaginative! I think Elliott has introduced Grellow and XYZ already. A couple of weeks ago I got Richie out of bed and he was goofing around with the growth chart in his room and singing something about a giraffe. Then I realized that he was saying Guillory the Giraffe in the song. I asked him who Guillory the Giraffe was and he pointed to the stuffed giraffe in his bed and told me it was THAT giraffe as if I should have KNOWN that! I picked up the giraffe and held it toward him and asked him if this was Guillory. Yep. ;-)

Back at Passover Richie and I went to a kids thing at School 22 on Light Street where one of the synagogues from north of the city has set up a Hebrew school. They have kids things for the different holidays. They had a game set up for the plagues that were visited upon the Egyptians and apparently they could not find plastic locusts (go figure) and so they just had a bunch of bugs. Richie became enamored with a pretty realistic-looking caterpillar and one of the teachers told Richie he could take him home. The other day Richie gave it a name. Mind you he has had this thing since Passover. I do not know how to spell it, but phonetically it is /bee EYE ness/. Yes, /bee EYE ness/! And /Bee EYE ness/ is male. Richie told me so. I keep wanting to call it Beyonce. Where did he get THAT name?!? Who knows?
Please welcome /Bee EYE ness/!-MaryLee

Some day

I'm studying for my next board exam which is less than a month away. Probably won't post until after September 9th. We're all okay, otherwise. Here are some pictures from July...

Visits

We went to one of our local parks a few weeks ago. Actually, we had tried to go to it before but got lost. We found it this time!
He's getting the hang of climbing, although we're really not encouraging it because he's still in his crib and doesn't know that he could climb out.

And he's starting to swing on his own, too. He did fall out when he tried to get off (before we could get to him to help). But the ground here is rubber pieces, so it's really soft. But, as you might expect, he did not understand how he ended up on his back. Too bad I didn't have the camera rolling then. :-)

(GG, this is a movie! (Yes, this is back. She asked for it.))

Aunt Ginger came to visit the end of last month.Somehow this is the only picture we got. I thought there were more. In any case, we all had a good time as shown here by Richie's new smile!

Apparently, hording herds of herbivores and omnivores are genetic!

After Aunt Ginger, Oma-Omee came for a visit!

Someone has morning breath! (Left as an exercise for the reader to decide who needs the toothbrush the most.)

Richie grabbed this shirt out of Oma-Omee's luggage!

Here we are getting ready for the local Independence Day Parade!

Uncle Sam, you cannot have my boy! At least, not yet.

After the parade, Richie got to meet his first ferret! Must have had the stink-gland removed because it did not have the usual ferret smell.

The Beach

Week before last we went on our first vacation to the beach! We went to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware. Which also constituted our last trip in our Subaru. No, we did not get in an accident, rather, we were able to sell the Suby. Now we're hip-deep in trying to figure out what to get for our next car. But, before too much time gets away, here are a bunch of pictures and movies. And, yes, we had a lovely time!

We found a rather large female horseshoe crab!

Although they are called crabs, they are apparently more closely related to spiders!

Richie finally got to drive a car!

And a Fire Engine! He really loved these rides. And, they were only 30 or 60 cents each ride!

So much like his daddy! He had to ride in every color boat.

Richie and Momma in the Ferris Wheel. I thought I'd be too heavy, so I didn't go, but the father of the next couple proved me incorrect.

We were really surprised that he wanted to ride in the "space ships" but he liked them, too.

The Motor. It's all about the motor. Or, maybe the steering wheel.

Hurry to the fire!

Back in the boat...

This is actually from our first day on the beach. It was gorgeous every day until the last 1/2 day. Then it was chilly.

He was a little afraid of the water at first, but he warmed to it. Too bad the water didn't warm to him. It was 55F. He loved getting his feet wet. We told him the water was "licking" his toes.

ML dug "bunny holes" that Richie enjoyed standing in. We made a few moats, too, because the tide kept coming in when we'd be out and we needed a little extra time to move. Unfortunately, Richie was standing in the moat when it filled with water on the first day. He did not like that.

Last Sunday, we went with the Baltimore Family Alliance to see the O's!

Strike!

His smile really looks like his cousin Sammy's on occasion!

The view from our seats. Normally, we would have moved to closer seats, but these were protected from the rain!

I'll be keeping this video close-at-hand when he becomes a teen!

Playing in the sand.

Shooing waves.
