This is the movie I've been trying to upload but I did not realize that it was too big for the website to accept until now. So, I fixed it!

More old stuff...
Recap:
We entered the reading contest late, so we were only "power reading" to him for a month. In that month, we read exactly 100 books! (ML had to keep track.) Here is the Aquarium ticket.

These are the O's ticket's at we used. We still have one extra that we did not need. Unofficially, we have NO idea where these seats actually are. Turn-out to the O's games is so low that you can easily find entire rows to yourself, which we had.

When you attend your first game, you can get this little memento. If you're really special, you can even get one with YOUR OWN NAME on it!

Richie's tooth is working it's way into his little mouth. It's a sharp little tooth, too! He does not seem interested in having us take a picture. Maybe, if I can get him to laugh some more...

A BIG week!
Last week for Richie, was a week full of firsts! The caretakers of Richie entered him into a summer reading contest, which surprised me a little big considering he cannot read. We entered the contest a little late, but, over the course of a month, we read exactly 100 books to him! Which, made him the top reader in his age group! (I think this qualifies us as Helicopter-Parents.) As such, Richie earned tickets to a special event at the the Baltimore Aquarium! During the summer-readers' party, Richie also won tickets to an Oriel's Game! Those took place on Thursdays and Tuesday of last week, respectively. Last Sunday, Richie was a guest to his first birthday party!
Although he has not quite started crawling, like I had thought, he is getting up on his knees much better and is regularly rolling front-to-back.
So, it has been a week full of FIRSTS! Let's take a look....
Okay, so it's not the first time Richie has been caught sleeping on Daddy's side of the bed, but it was too cute with his little toes poking out the bottom of the sheet.

Daddy and Richie are sharing a Binky for the first time! There's a cute movie of this, which I'll try to post tomorrow...the movies take a LONG time to upload.

Here's the birthday cake for Richie's friend Christopher! Kiki, Christopher's mommy, apparently has been making special cakes like this one for decades. Maybe she'll make one for Richie! (She never made me one...:( )

It's like Africa! (You'll see some of these later...)

Here's Christopher! Cake anyone?

This is the First Time Richie sat on daddy's shoulders!

We can see this building from our deck way off in the distance. Here' we were driving to ML's new-mother's-group who were having a BBQ so all of the husbands could meet. We're not allowed at the normal group meetings.

Richie got his very own pool last week! Well, the week before, but we just set it up last week. Do those animals look familiar?

Richie's first baseball game! He seemed to tolerate it quite well. Much better than I did as a child. Then again, my dad and I went to go see the Atlanta Flames several times.

I think this may have been Richie's favorite part of the aquarium! It's funny, all of the library people who were involved with taking the tickets call us "Richie's mom and Richie's dad." We clearly are of such little importance that we no longer need names!

Bubbles!

Hey! We found Nemo! (And his Dad.)

If I were a fish...

Next time Richie has nightmares, we'll know what they're about!

Break-time.

More Fishies!

Here he is up on his hands and knees! It's a little tough to see. The movie is better.

Oh, did I mention that he got his first sippy-cup? He knew exactly what to do with it!

Mobility
Hopefully I'll get a movie up this weekend, but we now have more urgent matters. Richie will be crawling within a week and I expect him to start crawling this weekend! He has successfully pushed up on his knees and elbows to scoot backwards. If you put your hands behind his feet, he'll go forwards! Thus, this weekend, we're baby-proofing! In other news, he's getting better at rolling back onto his back. He was also one of the top "readers" in our local library's summer reading program, which earned him tickets to the Baltimore aquarium and to an O's game! He still has a hard time in large and loud crowds...we'll see how the game goes.
For those of you wondering how we're going to secure the open banisters and stairs, we got our hands on some black-plastic deer fence. I figured if it is strong enough to stop a deer, it should be strong enough to stop a Richie. But, I'll use two layers, just in case!

Cuteness Update
Day before yesterday, I suppose, Richie is standing on my lap leaning against my chest. Well, really my stomach. He grabs my face with both hands, pulls me towards his face and proceeds to LICK my lips. Once I stopped laughing, he did it again! Gott'a love that kid!

ML got a mei tai baby wrap. It sure is easier than carrying him, especially given how heavy he's getting. I really need to start weightlifting again!

Anyone for Sushi?
ML got some new toys for the circle of despair. This is a teething fish. It did not take Richie long to figure out exactly what to do with it...maybe five seconds.

I have my second call shift tomorrow night, so I'm staying up late getting myself ready for the 8p Sat to 8a Sunday shift. "One Flag." (Six Flags commercial reference for all of the "older" people that read this blog.)
